The Movement Continues
A Billion Acts of Green® is already the world’s largest environmental service campaign. With over 800 million environmental actions registered on the Earth Day Network website the global support behind the movement has been tremendous. But the work is not finished yet. In preparation of Earth Day 2012, Earth Day Network is working hard to make the final push to reach one billion environmental commitments before the United Nations Rio+20 Conference in June 2012.

(Vienna, 29 March 2012) – Over 120 representatives from UN agencies, private sector companies and NGOs gathered for the annual United Nations System Private Sector Focal Points Meeting, which concluded today in Vienna. This meeting represented the largest ever turnout of UN and private sector representatives, demonstrating growing interest in this area.

(London, 15 March 2012) – A coalition of global investors from 12 countries managing over US$3 trillion of assets today added its voice to increasing calls for better corporate reporting on environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) activities.

On 23 February the fourth international conference of the Ukrainian Philanthropists' Forum will take place in the President Hotel (6 Hospitalna St., Kyiv). The conference, entitled "Charity 2020: Vision and strategy of development", will be attended by international experts from the WINGS - Worldwide Initiatives for Grantmaker Support network, the Donors and Foundations' Networks in Europe, the Global Foundation for Community Foundations and the European Foundation Center.

We would like to remind our readers that EEF along with UN Global Compact Network in Ukraine, UN Volunteers programme, European Business Association, American Chamber of Commerce, U.S. PeaceCorps and Ukrainian Philanthropists Forum has initiated the National Corporate Volunteering Contest, which aims to recognize and celebrate businesses with employee volunteering programs that are helping to solve vital problems in society. The initiative is also aimed at promoting volunteering among Ukrainian companies.

IMPROVED MEASUREMENT of gains from corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs is needed but not to the point that government be called in to regulate such efforts, business leaders said in a forum yesterday.

“We should be part of the solution to economic problems. We also have to close the gap of trust in the society, if not the rise against capitalism will only intensify,” Ayala Corp. President Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala said at the second day of the 10th Asian Forum on CSR.
